About Pastor Philemon and Everlyne Muderwa

Pastor Philemon and Everlyne Muderwa have been doing ministry together for over 25 years.

Apostle Philemon Muderwa is a Nairobi-based Pastor who founded World Outreach Christian Ministries in 2005 and is the overseer of the ministry to date. He has been privileged to visit several countries to spread the Gospel of Christ, the most recent visit being a trip to Monrovia in Liberia where a church was planted. Pastor Philemon is married to one wifeEvelyn Muderwa, and together they have three children: Keith, David and Carlene.

“I am passionate about meeting new people and making new friends. I cherish my family and love spending time with them. Over time, I have developed a liking for travelling, adventure and discovering new places. Helping people makes me feel happy, especially when they find that I am resourceful. My fulfilment lies in doing Christian ministry and going for missions. When I see the people grow, I am happy because the church grows too as a result.”

Apostle Philemon has an undergraduate degree in theology and was ordained in 2011. He has committed his life towards serving the LORD on a full-time basis ever since. Partnering with Agora Evangelism, Pastor Philemon oversees the East African region for the organization and has authored the books: ‘The Harvest is Plentious’ and ‘How to Grow in Christ”.

Evelyne Muderwa is Apostle Philemon’s wife. Behind every strong man, there is a stronger lady. They have been doing ministry together; an alliance that began even before they were married. Pastor Evelyne does ministry together with her husband and she finds utmost joy accompanying him in missions.

We spoke with her and this is what she articulated:

“Unlike my husband, I am not a full-time pastor. I have a regular job like any other person. However, when it comes to doing ministry, I am on the frontline ready to champion Christ. Working with Pastor Philemon has been an exhilarating experience.”

“When Philemon said to me that he had a calling to be a pastor, I knew how that went. I had been a youth minister and travelled places. However, now I can say I only had an inkling because starting a church is a lot different from the definition I had before.

Ministry is full of ups and downs and is filled with several challenges that can be discouraging sometimes. Seeing how World Outreach has grown since 2005, I just sit back and tell God Thou art, Ebenezer. The journey has been interesting.

We have met and parted with so many people along the way. Some left and some are still with us to date. With Philemon by my side, we have conquered what seemed so mountainous before and I look back and ask, ‘How did we overcome that?’”She continued.

“Besides being by my man, mothering my three kids has made me look at the world differently. Grooming them to be good people and instilling virtues has taught me a lot. I feel elated to see that they are growing in the ways of the LORD.

Putting up with ministry, work and family has been demanding but that is what makes me. I am ever busy with this or that…but my family…I will always make time to spend with them.”

Indeed, pastor Evelyne has proven to be very instrumental, especially in the women’s ministry and couples’ ministry. She is the epitome of a caring lady who is always there for other women. Like her husband, she gets fulfilled seeing people grow and is happy to nurture others.

Her hobbies are baking and singing.

Philemon and Evelyne Muderwa have been married for 24 years. They sang in a choir before they were married and did youth ministry together.  The duo went on to begin the church in 2005 and have since pastored the members.
